Objectives
We aim to design learning experiences that strengthen our students’ citizenship dispositions to take collective ownership of our future as a nation.

To develop a deeper understanding of who we are, and a shared understanding of the values that are important to us as a nation.

To be aware of contemporary realities—including Singapore’s constraints and vulnerabilities— which affect us as a nation amidst the backdrop of a less predictable world.
A Sense of Hope
To have confidence and optimism in Singapore’s future and the resilience to face the challenges ahead.
The Will to Act
To be active citizens who have a collective resolve and a sense of shared mission towards building a Singapore for all.

The four NE Commemorative Days
At Bukit Panjang Primary School, every National Education commemorative day is intentionally designed as a meaningful learning experience. Through experiential learning, purposeful dialogue and reflection, students deepen their understanding of Singapore's journey, discover who they are, reflect on what we stand for as one people, one nation, one Singapore, and recognise how they can contribute as active citizens. In doing so, we nurture Future Leaders and Concerned Citizens who endeavour to make a positive difference.
Total Defence Day
Total Defence Day commemorates the fall of Singapore on 15 February 1942 and reminds us that our peace, security and way of life should never be taken for granted. Through experiential learning and
reflection, students explore the importance of preparedness, resilience and collective responsibility. They recognise that everyone has a part to play in keeping Singapore strong, safe and united.
International Friendship Day
International Friendship Day provides students with opportunities to understand Singapore's close ties with our neighbours and the wider world. Through authentic learning experiences, students appreciate the diverse cultures and traditions of the region, recognise the importance of international cooperation, and develop respect for different perspectives. As they learn about Singapore's place in an interconnected world, they cultivate cross-cultural understanding and the values of friendship, openness and collaboration.
Racial Harmony Day
Racial Harmony Day commemorates the lessons of the 1964 racial riots and reminds us that harmony must be nurtured through the collective efforts of every generation. At Bukit Panjang Primary School, students celebrate Singapore's rich multicultural heritage while reflecting on the importance of respect, empathy and inclusion. Through purposeful dialogue and authentic experiences, they learn to appreciate different cultures and recognise that our diversity is a source of strength. Together, we build a caring, cohesive and harmonious community where everyone belongs.
National Day
National Day commemorates Singapore's independence and celebrates our nation's journey of courage, resilience and progress. At Bukit Panjang Primary School, students engage in meaningful learning experiences that deepen their appreciation of Singapore's past, strengthen their sense of belonging and build confidence in our nation's future. As we reflect on who we are and what we stand for as one people, one nation, one Singapore, we are inspired to play an active role in shaping a better Singapore for generations to come.
B) National Education across the Curriculum
National Education is woven into students’ everyday learning across subjects such as Character and Citizenship Education (CCE), English Language, Mother Tongue Languages and Social Studies. Through stories, inquiry, discussions and authentic contexts, students make meaningful connections between classroom learning and Singapore’s history, values and contemporary issues. These experiences deepen their understanding of who we are, what we stand for and their place in Singapore’s continuing story.
C) National Education through Everyday School Life
National Education extends beyond the classroom into the daily life of the school. During the Flag-Raising Ceremony, students sing the National Anthem and recite the National Pledge with understanding and pride, reaffirming the values and aspirations that unite us as Singaporeans. Through everyday responsibilities, such as caring for their classrooms and shared spaces, students learn that small acts of responsibility, care and respect help our community and nation move forward together, in the spirit of Majulah Singapura.
D) National Education beyond the Classroom
Some of the most memorable National Education experiences happen beyond the classroom. Through Cohort Learning Journeys, the Primary 5 National Education Show and other authentic learning experiences, students encounter Singapore's stories, heritage and people first-hand. Guided inquiry, purposeful dialogue and reflection help students deepen their understanding of Singapore, strengthen their sense of belonging, and inspire them to play an active role as Future Leaders and Concerned Citizens.
